Architecture of St. Augustine
As St. Augustine was burned and sacked many times in its' early history, there is little left standing of the 16th century. However we do have such wonders as the oldest masonry monument in the United States, the Castillo de San Marcos, completed in 1695. Some houses dating from 1700, at least parts of them are still standing and being used today. So as you and your guide stroll through the ancient streets you will see and hear the history of buildings large and small from 1700 to the present day. Homes, hotels, inns, forts and monasteries, restored and flourishing, see them all.
