Low Country Boil

As you approach the beach site whiffs of smoke from the smoldering fire and pungent steam from the savory pots of seafood and vegetables greet your senses. This is a hurry-up-and-wait time. Wander the beach, wade in the blue Atlantic, sip a cold beer or wine as you sit near the jetty rocks and listen to the roll of the waves.

A "low country boil" is a simple and hearty one-pot meal. The combination of shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn on the cob is flavorful and colorful. Add crab, catch-of-the-day, onion, and butter and you have a one pot wonder known in these parts as a "low country boil". Next to the steaming seafood is heaped the traditional sides of potato salad, creamy cole slaw, summer veggies such as string beans, asparagus, and whatever is fresh in the market. And plenty of napkins! We make this "low country boil" high brow as our white-coated servers, bartenders and chefs see to your every need.

After dessert we rebuild the fire and relax watching the sun set and the moon rise. The sound of the tide rolling in lulls you toward a perfect days end.

We must warn you, there could be Pirates!

That's right, occasionally Pirates, drawn to the lovely aroma of cooking seafood, beach their small boats on shore to investigate. Pirates are always looking for crew to kidnap and vittles to scarf, so we must be aware lest a band of these Pirates "attack". No one has been injured by these rag-tag Pirates so far, they are colorful, loud and rambunctious, we think they are mostly show-offs. With just a wee bit of grog they break into shanty songs, riddles and conundrums, mostly to see who among the party is best suited to life on the high seas. All the groups enjoy Pirate participation, however, it never hurts to hide your valuables!
